German Museum Experiences Surge in Visitors Due to Taylor Swift Music Video
Fans of Taylor Swift have sparked a significant increase in visitors at the Hessische Landesmuseum in Wiesbaden, Germany, after a painting of Shakespeare’s character Ophelia featured in her latest music video. The painting, created by Friedrich Heyser around 1900, depicts a woman submerged in water surrounded by flowers, reminiscent of Millais’s more famous Ophelia. Museum officials reported that visitors included families traveling from far away, as well as Americans from a nearby army base. The museum’s website announcement inviting Swift fans to a special tour went viral, drawing far more attention than usual. The surge in interest coincides with the release of Swift’s album ‘The Life of a Showgirl,’ which achieved record-breaking sales in both the UK and the US, surpassing previous achievements by artists like Adele. Museum director Andreas Henning expressed delight at the unexpected publicity and the opportunity to attract new audiences. The album also marks a personal milestone for Swift, being her first studio release since regaining control over her back catalogue and announcing her engagement to NFL star Travis Kelce.
