Federica Lombardi Discusses Her Role in ‘Le Nozze di Figaro’ and Love for Travel

Italian soprano Federica Lombardi, renowned for her interpretations of Mozart’s works, stars as Countess Almaviva in the Metropolitan Opera’s production of ‘Le Nozze di Figaro.’ The performance will be broadcast Live in HD to cinemas globally on April 26, 2025. Originally from Cesena, Italy, Lombardi debuted at the Met in 2019 and has since portrayed roles such as Musetta, Mimì, and Donna Anna. In February 2025, she also took on the lead in a new Vienna production of ‘Norma.’

In a recent interview, Lombardi shared insights about her artistic life and personal interests. She revealed that her favorite opera not currently in her repertoire is ‘Tosca,’ and she aspires to perform the title role one day. Her pre-performance ritual includes a moment of solitude to reflect and focus. After each show, she prefers comfort and a good meal.

Lombardi emphasized the importance of emotionally engaged audiences, stating that performers can feel when attendees are fully present. She also offered career advice she values: ‘Never settle’ and always continue growing. Her favorite travel destinations include Vienna and New York for work, and any seaside location in Italy for leisure. She finds peace walking in nature and always travels with a humidifier to protect her voice.

Among her favorite places is Rome’s Orange Garden, a peaceful spot with stunning views, embodying the serenity she seeks outside the stage.
