Nic Ford’s ‘A Lust For Glory’: A Hypnotic, Dystopian-Inspired EP Exploring Global Meta-Crisis Themes

Vietnam-based producer Nic Ford, resident at The Observatory, has released a new EP titled ‘A Lust For Glory’ under his own label Shift Coordinate Points. The three-track project is described by Ford as an extension of his interest in phase-shifting sound techniques, a core element of his previous work with Sơn FM. The EP explores heavy themes like industrialisation, human behaviour, and psychological factors driving the global meta-crisis, reflecting on where humanity might be headed. Sonically, the release is distinctive with off-kilter production and an eerie, ever-evolving atmosphere. The music unfolds like a dystopian thriller soundtrack, blending psychedelic unease, live percussion rhythms, and a narrative evoking curiosity and foreboding. The final track ascends to an almost euphoric climax, though maintaining an ominous undertone. This EP stands out in 2025’s music landscape for its unique approach and meticulous execution, capturing listeners with its tense and hypnotic mood.
