Ticketmaster to Provide Clearer Pricing After Oasis Fans’ Complaints

Ticketmaster has agreed to improve how it communicates ticket prices after facing complaints about its pricing system during Oasis’s reunion tour. The UK’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) intervened, saying the company must inform customers 24 hours in advance if a tiered pricing system is being used and provide clearer price details during online queues. The investigation followed consumer outrage over platinum tickets for Oasis’s tour, which were priced almost two and a half times higher than standard tickets but lacked any extra benefits. While the CMA found no evidence of dynamic pricing (where prices adjust in real time), the move comes in response to public frustration over ticket transparency. As part of the settlement, Ticketmaster will also have to ensure its online platform does not mislead fans into thinking certain tickets are more valuable when they are not. The company will regularly report to the CMA for the next two years to ensure compliance. This decision comes amid a wider legal battle involving Ticketmaster in the U.S., where the company faces accusations of allowing brokers to resell tickets at inflated prices, often with hidden fees. Ticketmaster has also committed to clearer communication on ticket prices in queues, in hopes of improving the overall customer experience.
