Charley Marlowe to Join BBC Radio 1 as Summer Presenter

TikTok influencer Charley Marlowe is set to take over BBC Radio 1’s Early Breakfast show on Fridays starting this August. In addition to her radio role, Marlowe is known for narrating BBC Three’s ‘I Kissed A Girl’. The TikTok star expressed her excitement about the new opportunity, revealing her plans to play music from artists like Jane McDonald and Kylie Minogue during her radio shows. Other notable changes to the station’s summer schedule include Made in Chelsea’s Jamie Laing stepping back from his regular afternoon slot for a couple of months to focus on filming. His show will be temporarily hosted by Sam MacGregor and Danni Diston, with Laing returning in September alongside co-host Katie Thistleton, who is coming back from maternity leave. The shake-up also brings GK Barry, another TikTok star, into the lineup as a weekend afternoon host for the summer. Additionally, Greg James’ Breakfast show will extend by half an hour each weekday from July 21 until September. Other adjustments include the return of Tskenya Frazer to co-host ‘Life Hacks’ with Lauren Layfield, as well as live coverage of major festivals such as TRNSMT, Boomtown, and Ibiza. Radio 1’s new line-up promises a lively and diverse summer for listeners.
