Tomorrowland Festival to Continue Despite Main Stage Fire

The Tomorrowland electronic dance music festival in Belgium will proceed as planned, despite a devastating fire that destroyed its main stage. The fire broke out on Wednesday evening, causing significant damage to the Orbyz stage, but fortunately, no injuries were reported. Festival organisers confirmed that the event in Boom, near Antwerp, will continue this weekend, albeit without the iconic stage. They are focusing on finding alternative solutions to ensure the festival goes on as scheduled. Hundreds of artists, including big names like David Guetta and Swedish House Mafia, are expected to perform over the two-weekend event, with over 400,000 people attending. The fire department has declared the site safe, and discussions with local authorities and safety experts are ongoing to address the situation. Though the main stage is a total loss, the festival has 14 other stages, smaller but still functional, that will host performances. The local mayor emphasized that cancelling the festival is not an option. Despite the crisis, organisers have been working around the clock to find alternatives and have expressed their dedication to overcoming the setback. The fire, which some employees described as apocalyptic, erupted just a day before the festival’s opening, taking everyone by surprise. Tomorrowland started in 2005 and has grown into one of the biggest EDM festivals in the world.
