Ace Frehley, the iconic guitarist of the American rock band Kiss, passed away at the age of 74. Known for his “Spaceman” stage persona and electrifying performances, Frehley left a lasting impact on rock music. His career was marked by remarkable talent as well as personal struggles, including a notable 1983 incident where he was arrested for drunk and reckless driving. In 1976, he survived a near-fatal electrocution on stage, an event that inspired the Kiss song “Shock Me.” Born Paul Frehley in New York City, he grew up in a musical family and was influenced early on by British R&B bands. Before joining Kiss in late 1972, he played in several local bands and held various jobs. Frehley’s guitar skills quickly earned him a spot in the band, where he created one of their most memorable personas. He wrote classic songs like “Cold Gin” and released successful solo albums.
