Billy Joel shares update on health after diagnosis with Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus

Billy Joel, the five-time Grammy winner, has provided an update on his health after being diagnosed with the rare brain disorder known as Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH). Speaking on Bill Maher’s Club Random podcast, the 76-year-old singer explained that he is feeling ‘good,’ though his condition is still being managed. NPH, a condition most commonly affecting those over 60, leads to a build-up of fluid in the brain, which can affect mobility, vision, and hearing. Joel’s balance has been a struggle due to the disorder, but he downplayed its severity, stating that it sounds worse than it feels. Earlier this year, Joel was forced to cancel concerts in May after doctors advised that his condition had worsened due to recent performances. He has committed to physical therapy for his recovery. His wife, Alexis, expressed gratitude for the swift diagnosis and care they received, remaining hopeful for a full recovery. Joel has also postponed upcoming shows in North America and Europe, including large venues such as Murrayfield and Anfield. Despite the setbacks, the musician’s dedication to his health remains a priority, and he plans to resume his career when fully recovered.
