Britney Spears thanks fans and focuses on sobriety while spending time with her sons after DUI arrest
Britney Spears has spoken publicly for the first time since her arrest for driving under the influence (DUI) on 3 March in California’s Westlake Village area. The singer shared a short Instagram post thanking fans for their support, expressing gratitude for time spent with her family, and encouraging kindness. A video accompanying the message showed her at home dancing with her 19-year-old son, Jayden, where she appeared healthy and in good spirits.
Following reports from the Daily Mail, Spears, aged 44, has maintained sobriety for over three weeks and is said to be regularly attending Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meetings in Los Angeles. Sources noted that she has been open about her struggle with addiction, describing AA as a vital part of her recovery. Spears has reportedly given up alcohol entirely and replaced it with coffee drinks while focusing on spending time with her two sons, Jayden and Sean Preston, 20, who have recently reunited with her after living in Hawaii with their father, Kevin Federline.
Her representative previously acknowledged the seriousness of the DUI incident, calling it ‘inexcusable’ but emphasising that Spears is committed to following legal processes and seeking help. Her memoir ‘The Woman In Me’ had already detailed her difficult years under conservatorship, during which she was required to attend frequent AA meetings. Spears is due to appear in court on 4 May, and her close circle reportedly hopes this turning point will lead to long-term stability and wellbeing for the pop star.
