BBC Radio 2 Music Festival to Be Held in Chelmsford’s Hylands Park This September

BBC Radio 2 has announced that its flagship music festival, ‘Radio 2 in the Park’, will be held in Hylands Park, Chelmsford, Essex from September 5 to 7. The announcement was made by Scott Mills on his breakfast show, with the full artist line-up scheduled to be revealed on Tuesday at 08:00 on the same program. Tickets for the event will go on sale on Wednesday. This marks a return to the area, which previously hosted major festivals such as V Festival, Creamfields South, and Country Calling.

Helen Thomas, head of Radio 2, described the event as the “biggest party of the year” and emphasized the efforts to book globally popular artists. Local leaders, including Stephen Robinson, leader of Chelmsford City Council, celebrated the announcement as a significant boost for the local economy and a chance to enhance the city’s reputation as a top destination for events. Essex natives Ellie Taylor and Rylan Clark were also present for the live reveal.

The festival has been previously hosted in locations like Preston and Leicester, and this year’s move to Chelmsford is seen as a major cultural opportunity for the region. The event is expected to attract thousands of visitors and reach millions via broadcast and online platforms.
