Shambala Festival Celebrates 25th Anniversary with Focus on Sustainability and Diverse Performances

Shambala, a music and arts festival held annually in Northamptonshire, is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. Known for its commitment to sustainability, the event will take place over four days and host around 15,000 attendees. The festival is renowned for its unique ‘secret’ nature, where the venue is kept private until closer to the event to promote a sense of community. Shambala will feature 40 different stages, showcasing a diverse range of music genres, including performances by Grammy-winning group Digable Planets, grime artist Manga Saint Hilare, and DJ Yoda. In addition to music, the festival will offer arts, spoken word performances, and workshops. This year’s theme, ‘pun intended,’ encourages attendees to dress creatively. Shambala also stands out for its sustainability efforts, being powered entirely by renewable energy, eliminating single-use plastics, and offering meat- and fish-free food. The festival offers a ‘pay it forward’ scheme, making tickets available for those on lower incomes. Organizers claim they’ve reduced the festival’s carbon footprint by 90% over its 25-year history.
