Ed Sheeran reveals that his next album, ‘Rewind’, is ready for release after ‘Play’
Ed Sheeran has revealed that he has already completed another album, ‘Rewind’, which will follow the release of his upcoming album, ‘Play’. Due out this week on September 12, ‘Play’ marks Sheeran’s first release after his 2023 album, ‘Autumn Variations’. ‘Play’ features singles like ‘A Little More’, ‘Azizam’, ‘Old Phone’, and ‘Sapphire’. In a recent interview, Sheeran explained that both ‘Play’ and ‘Rewind’ were created simultaneously, but ‘Play’ was finished first as it felt more exciting. ‘Rewind’, which has a more nostalgic feel, will be ready in two months, according to Sheeran. He describes these albums as ‘twin albums’ but points out that they differ significantly in tone, with ‘Play’ leaning into Indian culture and ‘Rewind’ focusing on nostalgia. Sheeran also emphasized that each song on both albums has a specific purpose and contributes to the overall journey of the records. He shared that ‘Play’ was made as a response to one of the darkest periods of his life, and he sought to create joy and exploration through the album. He also plans to release more music frequently in the future and is currently preparing for a UK and European arena tour later this year.
