Lorde’s New Album Faces Issues with CD Compatibility

Lorde’s latest album ‘Virgin’ has faced unexpected technical issues, with fans reporting that the CD version does not work on standard CD players. The album, which was released alongside a surprise Glastonbury performance, features a transparent disc design. Some fans, like Max, pre-ordered the CD but were unable to play it on their stereo systems. The issue was brought to light when Max shared their experience on TikTok, garnering 200k views. While some users have found alternative ways to play the CD, such as using a PlayStation, many others are frustrated by the malfunction. The album’s artwork, which features a controversial X-ray of a pelvis and references to transparency, aligns with the album’s theme. Despite the aesthetic value, fans are disappointed that the CD isn’t functioning as expected. Universal Music Group, the album’s record label, has offered refunds to affected fans but has not commented on the technical glitch. Lorde had previously avoided releasing a CD version of her 2021 album due to environmental concerns but assured that the ‘Virgin’ album used recyclable materials. Fans, however, still desire a working copy of the CD that plays in regular players.
