Florence Welch undergoes emergency surgery after ectopic pregnancy and internal bleeding
Florence Welch, the Grammy-nominated singer, shared that she had to undergo life-saving surgery after experiencing an ectopic pregnancy in August 2023. While performing on stage at a festival, she was unaware that she was suffering from severe internal bleeding. She later learned that her fallopian tube had ruptured due to a miscarriage, requiring immediate surgery. Welch, 39, had canceled some planned concerts due to health reasons she wasn’t ready to discuss at the time. She also mentioned that despite feeling unwell, she managed to complete her performance at a headline show in Cornwall, only to find out after a scan that she had ‘a Coke can’s worth of blood’ in her abdomen. The singer was rushed into emergency surgery to have her fallopian tube removed. Ectopic pregnancies occur when a fertilized egg implants outside the womb, often leading to life-threatening internal bleeding if left undiagnosed. Welch is set to release a new album, ‘Everybody Scream,’ in October.
