Michael Graves UK Shows Cancelled Amid Controversy Over Alleged Far-Right Links

A scheduled performance by former Misfits frontman Michael Graves at The Marrs Bar in Worcester has been cancelled following criticism over his alleged links to the far-right group Proud Boys. The concert, which was due to take place on Friday night, was called off after Graves decided not to travel to the UK, according to an email sent to ticket holders. The venue stated that the cancellation was not due to external pressure, despite receiving numerous threats demanding that the event be scrapped.

The controversy arose after Neil Laurensen, a Green Party councillor in Worcester, publicly urged the venue to reconsider hosting Graves, citing the musician’s past social media endorsement of the Proud Boys. The group has been designated as a terrorist organization in Canada and New Zealand. Graves also testified in defense of several Proud Boys members charged in connection with the January 6, 2021 storming of the US Capitol, which aimed to overturn the 2020 presidential election result.

Laurensen said he was pleased with the cancellation but reported receiving hundreds of abusive messages after speaking out. He argued that allowing figures associated with extremist groups to perform could normalize intolerance. Meanwhile, Graves denied promoting violence, hatred, or harm and expressed concern that venue staff had been placed under pressure. He emphasized that his performances are intended to foster connection and inclusivity through music.

Other tour dates across the UK, including in London, Cardiff, Glasgow, and Edinburgh, were also shelved. Promoters said the shows were cancelled to avoid disruption following protests.
