Gramps Morgan’s ‘If You’re Looking for Me’ Featured in Tyler Perry’s Latest Madea Film

Reggae artist Gramps Morgan has achieved a significant milestone with the inclusion of his solo track ‘If You’re Looking for Me’ in Tyler Perry’s new Netflix film, ‘Madea’s Destination Wedding.’ This marks the first time a solo song by Morgan has been featured in a movie, although his group, Morgan Heritage, has had previous placements in films like ‘Coming to America 2.’ The track originates from Morgan’s 2021 album ‘Positive Vibration,’ which blends country and reggae influences. The album was developed during the challenging COVID-19 pandemic, adding a deep personal significance to the music. Morgan recalled working remotely with musicians, including a guitarist based in Jamaica, to complete the project.

The opportunity came about after Tyler Perry Studios contacted Halo Entertainment, Morgan’s record label. For Morgan, this placement is not only a personal achievement but also a meaningful moment for reggae music as a whole. He hopes it will draw new listeners to the genre and bring joy to audiences. ‘Madea’s Destination Wedding’ was released on Netflix on July 11, and is the thirteenth installment in the ‘Madea cinematic universe,’ with Perry reprising his iconic role as Madea.
