Jeff Lynne’s ELO cancel BST Hyde Park concert due to singer’s illness
Jeff Lynne’s Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) has had to cancel their planned performance at BST Hyde Park on Sunday, July 13, 2025, as Jeff Lynne is recovering from a systemic infection. The band had also canceled a concert in Manchester on Thursday, July 10, at the Co-Op Live venue, just before the scheduled show. The decision came after Lynne’s doctors advised him that performing was not feasible due to his current health condition. In a statement, Lynne expressed his heartbreak over the cancellation, stating that his health must come first. Fans who had purchased tickets for the BST Hyde Park concert are encouraged to visit the event’s website for refunds. The cancellations are part of the band’s “Over and Out” tour, with the Manchester concert being their second-to-last performance before the final show. Despite his recent unwell appearance at the previous performance in Manchester, Lynne had also mentioned sustaining a hand injury in an incident involving a taxi. The band, originally formed in 1970, is known for hits like “Mr. Blue Sky” and “Livin’ Thing,” and Lynne was made an OBE in 2020 for services to music. This unexpected health setback has delayed their tour plans.
