Kesha Launches Smash, a Platform Empowering Music Creators with Ownership and Community

Pop star Kesha, known for her early 2010s hits and glittery persona, has ventured into tech entrepreneurship with the launch of her new startup, Smash. The app is designed as a community-focused platform where music creators can collaborate, hire each other, and most importantly, retain full rights to their work. This mission aligns with her previously announced independent record label, Kesha Records, aiming to dismantle traditional industry gatekeeping. The project stems from Kesha’s personal journey through a highly publicized legal battle with a former producer, which left her feeling disempowered. Now, she seeks to help others avoid similar experiences. Described by Kesha as a mix between LinkedIn and Fiverr for musicians, Smash emphasizes artist rights and transparency. The technical side of the startup is being led by CTO Alan Cannistraro, a former Apple and Facebook engineer with significant app development experience. With Smash, Kesha hopes to create a safer, more collaborative space for independent artists, setting a new standard in the music tech space.
