Lalo Schifrin, Legendary Composer Behind Iconic TV and Film Themes, Passes Away at 93

Lalo Schifrin, the celebrated composer known for his work on iconic TV shows like ‘Mission: Impossible’ and ‘Mannix,’ passed away on June 26, 2025, at the age of 93. Born in Argentina, Schifrin’s innovative blending of jazz and classical music made him one of the most influential figures in film and television scores. Throughout his career, he earned six Oscar nominations, four Grammy Awards, and was recognized for his memorable music in films such as ‘Cool Hand Luke,’ ‘Dirty Harry,’ and ‘Bullitt.’ His ‘Mission: Impossible’ theme, in particular, became a defining piece of music for both the original TV series and the later movie franchise starring Tom Cruise.
