Kenyan musician Mejja, also known as Major Nemeye, has shared a fascinating story about his life before becoming a music icon. In a recent interview on the Zoza Podcast, he recalled how his mother once strongly encouraged him to join the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF). Mejja revealed that his mother, using her connections, even arranged for him to attend recruitment trials for the army. However, he was unprepared for the physically demanding tests. Mejja said that during the running test, he struggled significantly and eventually gave up, choosing to leave the stadium and head home. His mother, who had already informed the neighbours about his potential enlistment, was supportive but unaware of his decision to walk away from the trials. Despite his failure in the recruitment process, Mejja later found success in the music industry, and his debut album, ‘Mtoto wa Khadija’, is a tribute to his mother. This candid moment from Mejja’s past has sparked reactions from fans and netizens, some of whom shared their own thoughts on the pressures of parental expectations.
