Liam Gallagher criticizes Edinburgh Council over comments on Oasis fans

Liam Gallagher, frontman of Oasis, took a dig at Edinburgh City Council during the band’s first Scottish show at Murrayfield Stadium. In front of 70,000 fans, Gallagher called the council a ‘bunch of snakes’ and stated the band was still waiting for an apology. His comments were in response to a safety briefing in which council representatives had labeled Oasis fans as ‘rowdy’ and ‘intoxicated,’ and made claims about ‘middle-aged men’ taking up more space compared to other concertgoers. Gallagher also criticized the city’s festivals and highlighted the economic boost the Oasis concerts were bringing, which he claimed wouldn’t benefit the fans due to the council’s handling of the event. Despite the controversy, the concert proceeded with a spectacular 23-song set, including classics like ‘Wonderwall’ and ‘Champagne Supernova,’ and ended with a massive fireworks display. The concerts have been seen as a potential boost to the local economy, generating up to £130 million. However, three arrests were made in connection with assault, drug offences, and abusive behaviour.
