US rapper Kanye West, who has recently been at the centre of several controversies due to his inflammatory comments, will perform in Tirana, the capital of Albania, in July. The 48-year-old musician, known for his admiration of Adolf Hitler and antisemitic remarks, has faced cancellations in other countries like the UK and Poland due to his controversial views. In the UK, West was barred from entering the country, which led to the cancellation of his planned performance at a London festival. Similarly, the Polish government cancelled his concert in Warsaw, citing his promotion of Nazism, which was against the country’s values. Despite these setbacks, West’s Albanian concert is seen as a positive step for the country’s cultural scene, with a venue being specially built to accommodate 60,000 people. The Albanian Culture Minister, Blendi Gonxhe, expressed that the event is a part of the country’s growing reputation as a destination for major cultural events.
