Welsh Opera Singer Stuart Burrows Passes Away at 92

Stuart Burrows, the internationally renowned Welsh opera singer, has passed away at the age of 92 following a brief illness. Born in Cilfynydd, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Burrows made his debut with the Welsh National Opera in 1963 and later performed at prestigious venues including La Scala in Milan, the Met Opera in New York, and the Royal Opera House in London. His career reached its peak in the 1970s and 1980s, during which he also starred in his own BBC Two series ‘Stuart Burrows Sings.’ Beyond opera, Burrows was also celebrated for his contributions to music education and mentoring young singers. He received numerous honors, including an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Wales and an OBE for his services to music.
