Rod Stewart Cancels US Shows Due to Illness Before Glastonbury Appearance

Sir Rod Stewart, the legendary British rock artist, has announced the cancellation of four upcoming concerts in the United States due to a bout of flu. The 80-year-old singer made the announcement via Instagram, expressing regret and apologizing to his fans for the inconvenience. In addition to cancelling four shows in Las Vegas and Stateline, Nevada, he plans to reschedule two performances in California. This decision comes just weeks before Stewart is set to perform at the Glastonbury Festival on Sunday, 29 June, where he will take the prestigious legends slot on the Pyramid Stage.

Rod Stewart, who last performed at Glastonbury in 2002, will join a roster of artists who have headlined the Sunday afternoon slot, including Dolly Parton and Kylie Minogue. Despite previously stating that he intends to end large-scale world tours by 2025, Stewart emphasized his excitement about the festival and shared that he will be joined by former Faces bandmate Ronnie Wood. He has requested to extend his set beyond the planned hour and fifteen minutes, as he is used to performing for over two hours. Known for classic hits like ‘Maggie May’ and ‘Da Ya Think I’m Sexy?’, Stewart remains one of the best-selling music artists of all time.
