Sharon Osbourne Supports Renaming Birmingham Airport in Honor of Ozzy Osbourne

Sharon Osbourne has expressed her support for a campaign to rename Birmingham Airport after her late husband, rock legend Ozzy Osbourne. The proposal, launched by podcaster and comedian Dan Hudson following Ozzy’s death at 76 in July, suggests naming the airport ‘Ozzy Osbourne International.’ The campaign has already gathered more than 70,000 signatures, with Hudson citing inspiration from airports named after notable figures like John Lennon. Sharon Osbourne described the idea as ‘amazing’ and noted that while it is currently a dream, it is not impossible. Local supporters, including Birmingham City Council member Edward Fitter, emphasized the importance of celebrating Ozzy’s legacy in the West Midlands, mentioning existing tributes such as the ‘Ozzy the bull’ statue at Grand Central. Brand expert Andy Barr highlighted that while renaming an airport comes with logistical challenges and costs, it could positively impact the region’s identity and morale. Birmingham Airport has confirmed that it is planning a tribute to Ozzy within the terminal and is committed to honoring his musical contributions. The campaign continues to gain momentum with public and family backing, making the prospect increasingly feasible.
