Sibusiso Mashiloane captivates audiences at the Cape Town International Jazz Festival

South African jazz pianist and composer Sibusiso ‘Mash’ Mashiloane delivered a mesmerising performance on the second day of the Cape Town International Jazz Festival, held at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) on Saturday, 28 March 2026. Taking to the intimate Rosies stage, Mashiloane opened the evening with a soulful set that felt deeply personal, connecting the artist and audience through his refined improvisations and heartfelt delivery. His music blended classic jazz artistry with distinctive South African rhythms and harmonies, creating a sound that resonated with both warmth and authenticity. The performance oscillated between calm, reflective passages and bursts of rhythmic intensity, keeping festivalgoers fully engaged from start to finish.

The night continued with performances by other acclaimed acts, including Cape Town’s own DJ Sio on the Manenberg stage. International performers such as Mali’s Fatoumata Diawara, America’s Sheila E. & The E‑Train, the UK collective Nubiyan Twist, and India’s Varijashree Venugopal were also on the bill, alongside local talents like Tutu Poane, Camissa Knights, and Jimmy Nevis. The festival, often dubbed ‘Africa’s Grandest Gathering’, maintained its tradition of showcasing world-class artistry and cultural exchange. On the previous night, multi‑Grammy Award winner Jacob Collier closed the festival with an uplifting finale, joined by other remarkable acts including Sipho ‘Hotstix’ Mabuse, lordkez, Yellowjackets, and Rorisang Sechele. This year’s edition reinforced the festival’s role as one of South Africa’s premier cultural celebrations, uniting diverse musical voices from across the globe in the heart of Cape Town.
