Jessie J Makes Triumphant Return to Stage After Breast Cancer Surgery, Son Sees Her Perform for First Time

Jessie J made a powerful return to the stage over the weekend, performing at the BBC Radio 2 In the Park festival in Chelmsford, Essex. This was her first live performance after undergoing breast cancer surgery just 11 weeks ago. During her set, she revealed her journey, saying, ‘Some of you may know, some of you may not know, but I had breast cancer surgery 11 weeks ago today.’ She expressed immense gratitude for being able to perform again, emphasizing her recovery process. The moment was especially emotional as it was the first time her two-year-old son saw her perform live. Jessie shared that her son waved backstage while wearing earmuffs, and later joined her onstage. Before performing her new song ‘Living My Best Life,’ Jessie explained its significance, noting that she was diagnosed with cancer just two weeks before its release. Despite the challenges, she said, ‘Life is about standing in the storm but holding up your umbrella and just keep moving forward.’ Jessie had undergone a mastectomy after her breast cancer diagnosis and has since faced some complications, but she continues to show resilience, spreading a message of living life to the fullest. Her U.S. tour was canceled, and her U.K. dates were postponed as she underwent further surgery, but she remains determined to move forward in her recovery and career.
