UMG Seeks to Dismiss Sara Rivers’ Lawsuit Against Diddy
Universal Music Group (UMG) is seeking to have itself removed from a lawsuit filed by former ‘Making The Band’ singer Sara Rivers, who accuses Diddy of hostile and inhumane treatment. The music giant argues that the lawsuit against them should be dismissed because it is ‘time-barred,’ preempted by New York state law, and consists of an improper group pleading. According to UMG’s legal team, only a small fraction of the lawsuit, 10 out of 1,003 paragraphs, actually pertain to their involvement. The company maintains that the claims against them are irrelevant to the primary accusations made by Rivers against Diddy. The lawsuit involves several other defendants, but UMG insists it should not be one of them. A judge has yet to rule on the motion. This latest development comes as Diddy’s ongoing legal battles continue to make headlines, with his defense team focusing on various other aspects of the case. The outcome of this motion could have significant implications for how the lawsuit proceeds and for UMG’s potential involvement in future stages of the legal proceedings.
