Winnipeg Selected to Host 2027 Juno Awards Week

Winnipeg has been confirmed as the host city for the 56th annual Juno Awards, scheduled for April 1-4, 2027. The event will culminate with a gala at Canada Life Centre, broadcast live on CBC. This marks the third time Winnipeg will host the awards, previously welcoming them in 2005 and 2014. The Junos, considered Canada’s equivalent of the Grammy Awards, celebrate excellence in the national music industry and often generate up to $17 million in economic impact for the host city. Premier Wab Kinew announced the province will invest $1.5 million in the event. Allan Reid, president of the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS), praised Winnipeg for its historic musical contributions, naming artists such as The Guess Who, Neil Young, Begonia, and William Prince. While a host for the 2027 ceremony has not yet been chosen, the event will feature performances, songwriter circles, and the induction of new members into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame. The Junos have evolved from a one-night awards ceremony to a week-long celebration of Canadian music, showcasing diverse genres including rap and Indigenous music. Past winners include Anne Murray with 25 awards and The Weeknd with 22. This announcement reflects the continued national recognition of Winnipeg as a significant hub for Canadian music.
