Stedman Pearson, Member of Five Star, Passes Away at 60

Stedman Pearson, a member of the British pop group Five Star, has passed away at the age of 60, as announced by his family. Pearson, who had diabetes and was undergoing dialysis treatment, died on Monday. His sister Deniece confirmed the news and described him as a gentleman and a beloved son, brother, and uncle.

Five Star, formed in 1983 by their father Buster Pearson, consisted of siblings Stedman, Deniece, Lorraine, Doris, and Delroy. Known for their coordinated dance moves and stylish outfits, they were often compared to The Jackson 5. The group achieved major success in the 1980s, with their second album, ‘Silk and Steel,’ reaching number one in the UK. They also won a Brit Award in 1987 and had six UK Top 10 hits, including ‘System Addict’ and ‘Rain or Shine.’

Despite breaking up in 1995, Five Star reunited multiple times, most recently performing as a four-piece until 2016. Stedman also appeared on reality TV, featuring in ‘The All Star Talent Show’ and ‘Celebrity Scissorhands.’

Born in Romford, Essex, Stedman was the eldest of the siblings. His family expressed their sorrow and gratitude for the memories he left behind, highlighting his lasting impact on music and his loved ones.
