Ugandan musician Joshua Baraka has achieved a major regional milestone by overtaking Tanzania’s celebrated Bongo Flava artist Diamond Platnumz on Spotify’s monthly listeners chart. According to Spotify’s latest figures, Baraka commands more than 1.7 million monthly listeners, slightly ahead of Diamond, who has around 1.6 million. Though the difference may look small, it signals an important shift in East Africa’s music scene, showing how younger artists are reshaping streaming trends.
