Tom Morello Criticizes Trump and Supports Bruce Springsteen at Boston Calling Festival

During his performance at the Boston Calling Music Festival, Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine made a clear political statement, calling out Donald Trump and supporting Bruce Springsteen. On stage, Morello used a graphic with buttons that read ‘F-ck Trump’ and labeled him a ‘tyrant.’ Morello praised Springsteen for his commitment to truth, justice, and equality, and criticized Trump for attacking Springsteen, who has a much larger following. Morello also performed covers of Springsteen’s ‘The Ghost of Tom Joad’ and Woody Guthrie’s ‘This Land Is Your Land,’ using the latter song to highlight the authoritarian leanings of the current administration. The musician further showed his support for Harvard University, his alma mater, in its legal battle against Trump’s immigration policies. In addition to these political statements, Morello displayed a message on his guitar reading ‘F-ck ICE’ in reference to the Trump administration’s immigration policies, emphasizing his stance on civil rights and resistance to authoritarianism.
